Eastern Suffolk BOCES STEM High School Students at CPC for Mfg Day

25 students from Eastern Suffolk BOCES’s STEM High School program attended Manufacturing Day at the Composite Prototyping Center on October 2nd. They were introduced to the world of Advanced Manufacturing beginning with a guided tour of our state-of-the-art facility and witnessed first-hand from Lenny Poveromo, Executive Director of CPC, what careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are all about.

Students who visited CPC also saw a demonstration from our millennial ambassador Mark Schmiemann with Nordan Composites Technology, how composite hoods used in Indy cars are made. He showed the students that STEM careers can be exciting, challenging and rewarding.

Senator Gillibrand Announces New Legislation To Help Expand Small Businesses, Boost Manufacturing

Plainview, NY – Standing at the Composite Prototyping Center, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced new legislation to help small businesses expand their advanced manufacturing operations and create and keep high-paying, high skilled manufacturing jobs in the United States. Gillibrand introduced the Scale-Up Manufacturing Investment Company Act of 2015, a bill that would increase capital for entrepreneurs and small businesses looking to scale-up and commercialize their advanced manufacturing and innovation operations. U.S. Department of Energy’s Dr. Mark J. Shuart Visits LIFT’s Composite Prototyping Center

The Long Island Forum for Technology’s (LIFT) Composite Prototyping Center (CPC) had a visit from U.S. Department of Energy’s Dr. Mark J. Shuart, Program Manager for R&D Facilities in the Advanced Manufacturing Office. Dr. Shuart was on hand Monday, July 27th, 2015 to tour CPC’s facilities and consider a possible partnering role for LIFT CPC in the DOE’s Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation. The visit came at the invitation of LIFT CPC’s Executive Director Leonard Poveromo. Read more.
